Is It Really Working?

We Can Be Confident, It is Not Finished

Romans 8-28

Don’t get discouraged, focus and protect your heart with the truth that you are loved and enjoyed. Remember each day that the story is not finished yet, you still have a part to play.  Everything that God is doing is worked into something good.

There’s more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit! – Romans 5:3-5 MSG

I try to always focus on two things when I feel discouraged and stressed.

  1. I am not alone – I choose daily, sometimes every moment to believe that God is really with me.  I heard Andy Stanley say once – “What would any young man do if he were absolutely confident God was with him”.  I choose to live and act in that truth.  God says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” – Hebrews 13:5
  2. This to will pass – The older I get the more confident I am… this to will pass.  I will get through this, I will find solutions and grow through this.  I have learned this by looking back with amazement at what God has done and looking forward with hope knowing that God is not finished.

It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence, to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: “And this, too, shall pass away.” How much it expresses! How chastening in the hour of pride! How consoling in the depths of affliction! – Abraham Lincoln

Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day ― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
